We&#039;re talking about &quot;\u201c<strong>House of Cards<\/strong>\u201d&quot;, one of Netflix&#039;s original series, which, in addition to being a global success, is a great example of a results-oriented culture. The series&#039; success was already expected by the company, even before the director yelled &quot;Cut!&quot; in the studio. And if you think all this was just a stroke of luck: WRONG!.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix is already responsible for the decline in viewership of major American TV programs, and it seems that with each passing day, the organization manages to hit its target with greater precision. Much of this success is related, as we&#039;ve already mentioned, to a results-oriented culture. In other words, Netflix takes all the data that entrepreneurs sometimes overlook and transforms it into a kind of Waze for business, making quick and effective decisions towards the right destination.<\/p>\n<p>And how do they do that? To help you understand better, we&#039;ve outlined some of the steps in a results-oriented culture:<\/p>\n<h2>Data Collection<\/h2>\n<p>This first step is essential for the unfolding of all other activities within a results-oriented culture. Without data, a company is not making intelligent decisions; the entrepreneur is merely being guided by their instinct, which can sometimes fail.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine you want to play darts, but you&#039;re blindfolded. Is there a chance you&#039;ll hit the target? Yes, but the chances are very low compared to when your eyes are open, clearly seeing what&#039;s in front of you. That&#039;s exactly what data collection is for: it removes the blindfold that prevents your vision from being sharper and clearer.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>Netflix<\/strong> They analyzed their entire market to understand which series would resonate best. And it wasn&#039;t just behavioral research. The organization analyzed every click, pause, retention time in series and films, frame rate acceleration or deceleration, among a thousand other factors, until they reached a conclusion. If they had stopped analyzing at the first factor, the analysis would most likely have been compromised. After all, how many times have we clicked on a series but not stayed with it for more than 5 minutes?<\/p>\n<p>To have this information at hand, companies need to choose the means of data collection.<\/p>\n<p>And to help with this choice, we have several technologies at our disposal, each with a specific purpose, which have developed significantly in recent years. Before, it was only possible to see the tip of the iceberg. Today, with automated tools, we can already have a broader and deeper view, preventing many companies from failing.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix opted to use a big data system, through which the organization has access to a wide range of data and studies it to understand exactly where its business is positioned and what data is relevant to the action they wish to take.<\/p>\n<p>But you don&#039;t need to limit yourself to this method; there are many others. With Google Analytics, for example, you can predefine which data needs to be studied and generate reports with cross-references based on their relevance to the organization. You can also consult your audience directly through surveys.<\/p>\n<p>Quantitative research allows you to ask structured questions, via email or physical questionnaire, and receive objective answers. \u201cDo you like this thing here?\u201d \u201cYes.\u201d \u201cAnd this other thing?\u201d \u201cNo.\u201d This way, you get statistics on your customers&#039; impressions of some aspect of your product or service. NPS is a methodology that fits very well here.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to delve a little deeper into these impressions, on a more personal level, qualitative research can help. It would be like that famous phone call you receive from many companies, asking about your satisfaction, requesting suggestions for improvement, almost in an interview format. It can be a subsequent step to qualitative research, to better understand your customer profile and engagement.<\/p>\n<p>With the chosen method and results in hand, it&#039;s time to analyze the metrics.<\/p>\n<h2>Data analysis<\/h2>\n<p>The results are in, and now the work begins of understanding what each of them is telling your organization.<\/p>\n<p>A <strong>Netflix<\/strong> They understood that their audience enjoyed political series, but that this wasn&#039;t always the focus of those who opted for content geared towards that topic. The company also began looking at an old British series that had been very successful and was for sale, with actors and directors popular among their target audience.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, &quot;House of Cards&quot; emerged, a series that goes far beyond politics. It features strong characters, especially the female ones, and addresses various themes of interest to viewers. Netflix, therefore, didn&#039;t predict the series would be a success; it was certain of it, as all its actions were based on well-analyzed data.<\/p>\n<p>After gaining a better understanding of your data, it&#039;s time to set goals.<\/p>\n<h2>Goal Setting<\/h2>\n<p>With a large target looming over their heads, all areas of Netflix began to mobilize to make the achievement of this macro objective feasible, through actions that directly or indirectly influenced the delivery of the series. Setting goals is not easy, which is why we should always reserve ample time for this step.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of Netflix, its main objective was to promote a successful series, but this didn&#039;t depend on just one area or person, but rather on the synergy of several sectors. Therefore, there were various smaller goals that contributed to a larger, broader objective.<\/p>\n<p>A defined goal must be a fulfilled goal; to achieve this, it&#039;s necessary to understand how each of them unfolds.<\/p>\n<h2>Goal Deployment<\/h2>\n<p>Another very important point within a results-oriented culture is the breakdown of shared goals. In other words, how each area is involved with the macro objective defined by the company. Think again about the Netflix case.<\/p>\n<p>The company has already conducted extensive research, defined its objective, and determined how it will achieve it. Now it&#039;s time to distribute, across all areas, the functions that will directly or indirectly contribute to achieving the overarching goal.<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Netflix<\/strong>, The communications department devised a social media campaign, the advertising team created ads, and various other departments joined forces, each in their own way, to deliver the best possible result. And they succeeded. In fact, they exceeded their own expectations! And how did all this happen? Easy, they knew where they were going.<\/p>\n<p>If your nervous system has a problem and doesn&#039;t send a signal for your legs to move, when you try to walk, you will fall.
