Basically, the motto that drives our work is:<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>\u201c&quot;We believe that by using the internet intelligently, we can make the world a better place.&quot;\u201d<\/em><\/h1>\n<p>Don&#039;t you agree? That&#039;s exactly what the programmer did. <strong>Patrick McConlogue<\/strong>, when <strong>Leo Grand<\/strong>\u00a0He asked for alms and was offered $100 or programming lessons. Which do you think he chose?<\/p>\n<p>It took 16 weeks of classes, with Patrick using only 1 hour a day to teach Leo how to program.<em>Where&#039;s your excuse now?<\/em>Grand also received tools to help him practice what he was learning: a notebook and 3 used books.<\/p>\n<p>Leo&#039;s journey resonated worldwide and even inspired a new creation. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a title=\"Journeyman Fan Page\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/journeymanchallenge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a fan page<\/a><\/span> so that people could follow his progress. As Grand himself said in a statement: \u201c<em><strong>Trees for Cars<\/strong>\u00a0It&#039;s a great way to build relationships, unite communities, help each other financially, and consume energy consciously, all to protect the environment.<\/em>\u201c&quot;.<\/p>\n<h2>How does it actually work?<\/h2>\n<p>Here&#039;s how it works: you choose the address you need to go to, and the app shows you drivers who are nearby and heading to the same area. Then, one driver can invite another to share a ride. They are only connected after both accept the invitation. At the end of the ride, the app calculates how much carbon dioxide emissions they saved by using the app.\u00a0<em>Trees for Cars<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Cool, right? \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p>All the revenue from the app sales goes to Grand. The homeless man said he will use the money to help pay for a programming course.
